Twice the delight

These days almost every occasion needs a cake. And who doesn’t love cakes? Not everyone can bake a cake, that’s why there are many online cake delivery shops. But how delightful would it be if you would bake something and send it your loved ones?

If you are not a fan of cakes, you can replace them with brownies too. Preparing a brownie is just 30 minutes work, but then again, a cake is a cake. Here is a recipe of one of the most delicious cake – Chocolate Yule Log. And we will also teach you an easy way to bake a brownie if you are not a fan of cakes.

Chocolate Yule Log-

This log shaped cake is popularly prepared in UK during festivals, but you can totally make this at home, as well.

Presenting the recipe-


3 Medium eggs

75 g caster sugar

75 g plain flour

Caster sugar for dusting

100 g butter softened

100 g icing sugar
25 g cocoa powder

75 g unsweetened chocolates.

Here’s how you start baking-

The first step is preheating the oven to 200°C. Grease and line the Swiss roll tin with baking parchment, or you can use butter to grease too.

The second step, whisk the eggs and sugar together in a large bowl until thick and creamy and leaves a trail. Filter the flour and cocoa together and fold into the mixture carefully with 1 tbsp. of hot water. Try not to knock our too much air or bubbles could form.

The third step, place it into the prepared tin and slant to level of the mixture. Make sure the batter is spread evenly. Bake for 10-12 minutes until it is springy to the touch.

Dust a large piece of baking parchment/ Silver foil with caster sugar and turn the sponge out onto it. Remove the hard edges and make a hollow space along the width of the baked cake. From one end, roll it up along the paper in the centre. Then put it to cool.

Beat the butter and sugar together until the mixture is fluffy and then add the entirely melted chocolate. Open the sponge which we rolled earlier and spread over 1/3 of the butter icing and up roll again.

Cut a small portion of the roll to make it seem as a branch and then serve it. Your Yule Log is ready to eat!

Dark Chocolate Brownies-

Necessary items:
3/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 1/2 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup dark chocolate unsweetened cocoa powder
3/4 cup flour
3 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions to prepare:
On a gas stove in low flame, put the butter and mix it with cocoa or melt chocolate pieces in it. Keep stirring until thick and dark brown. Remove it from the flame and add sugar, flour, vanilla extract and eggs. Stir with a spoon until well combined.

Then grease a square or rectangular baking dish with parchment paper or grease it with butter well so that it is soft. Pour the batter into pan and spreading evenly. Bake at 350 degree for 22-25 minutes.

If you want to put some toppings, you can use small pieces of chocolates and nuts and sprinkle over the top when it is hot. Once this is done, cool it in the refrigerator for some time. Do not cover the hot brownie as it will leave the water and your dish will become too moist. And then you are ready to EAT!
